Beim Viandener Schloß aus der Kahlerplüz soll alle sieben Jahre Geld brennen. Es- war eine kleine, blaue Flamme, die immer größer wurde und dann plötzlich verschwand. Ein Viandener, namens Pfeisfenschneider, soll einst bis zu derselben gekommen sein, und wie er seinen Rosenkranz aus der Tasche herausnehmcn wollte, um ihn ins Feuer zu werfen, erlosch plötzlich die Flamme. Auch aus dem Pitgesseld soll Geld brennen. Ihrer drei sollen einst dort die Stelle entdeckt und den Teufel beschworen haben, so daß er das Geld fahren ließ; ihres Fundes schon gewiß, habe einer gesagt: „Mut, Freunde!" Darauf sei der Schatz versunken; die Männer aber seien von unsichtbarer Hand so geprügelt worden, daß ihnen alle Luft zur Schatzgräberei auf immer vergangen sei. In dem Brunnen des Viandener Schlosses liegt nach dem Volksglauben eine schwere, große Geldkiste, worauf ein großer, feuriger Hund kauere. Einst habe sich einer hinunterlassen wollen, aber als er den Höllenhund gesehen, habe er sogleich das Signal zum Heraufziehen gegeben. Bei einem Turme desselben Schlosses ist ein Loch, worin die Gräfin Polanda gesessen; das nennt man das Hexenloch. Dort wurden sonst die schweren Verbrecher hinnntergelassen. Theodor von Rollingen erbaute, da er noch Knappe war, einen Hochofen mit einer Schmiede an den Usern der Eisch, und zwar am Fuße des Berges, der das alte Ansemburger Schloß trägt. Das Gehämmer der Schmiede war aber dem Burgherrn sehr unangenehm, und er beklagte sich drob durch seinen Diener bei Theodor von Rollingen. „Geh, sag deinem Herrn", antwortete dieser, „das Hüttenwerk werde sein Schloß verschlingen". Ein Mann voll Wehr hatte die Gewohnheit nur des Nachts zu reisen. Als er eines Abends spät voll Palzem nach Hause ging und aus der Flur „Froschheck" angekommen war, nahm ihn plötzlich ein Bock auf seinen Rücken und trug ihn blitzschnell bis zudem „Bußbach," wo er ihn abwarf. Trotz dieser Warnung blieb der Mann bei seiner alten Gewohnheit und so ereignete es sich,daß er einmal bei hochallgeschwollener Mosel, nahe an der Stelle, wo ihn der Bock abgeworfen hatte, in den Fluß fiel und ertrank.
